History
Beauty for Ashes was created in a response to God’s call to provide a Home for women in unstable life situations.
In 2001, Bountiful Harvest Ministries was incorporated as a nonprofit organization, under the tax exempt status of 501 (c)(3).
The miracle of provision to secure a facility occurred in April 2003. In faith, the Board agreed to secure a 9-room home offered by another ministry. Within one month the entire price of the Home fully furnished was raised.
And, in December 2004, Beauty for Ashes Transitional Home began serving women and children in need. Unlike emergency shelters which offer much needed short term relief, Beauty for Ashes invests very heavily in the wellness and care of fewer individuals for a longer term. Most residents make Beauty for Ashes their home for 12 to 13 months.
Families are important at Beauty for Ashes
Since opening 5 years ago, Beauty for Ashes has been home to several families, often meeting its capacity of 13. Families have been reunited, babies born, education pursued, children stabilized in school and community activities, spiritual needs met, and women empowered to move into a more independent living arrangement.
Today, as in the past, community support is vital in sustaining the long-term success of Beauty for Ashes.
Growth and program enrichment continue to be key focuses. The housing program is maturing through networking, contracted services, physical improvements to the building, and internships.
