Criteria for Admission

Beauty for Ashes Transitional Home

1. Have an established legitimacy of need for transitional housing (not emergency shelter.)
2. Be psychologically, physically, and emotionally able to work.
3. Be employed within the first month of residency.
4. Be clean and sober for 6 months and have completed a primary treatment program for chemical dependency if substance abuse is a problem. Substance abuse clients must be willing to participate in a recovery program.
5. Be committed and motivated to achieve significant personal growth.
6. Be open to spiritual growth and learning in a Christ-centered community of faith.
7. Be willing to develop responsible lifestyle changes and to commit to a program of life skills, self-improvement, spiritual growth classes, and off-site counseling.
8. Be willing to abide by rules, code of conduct, and daily schedule
9. Abstain from sexual activity, drug & tobacco use, and alcoholic beverages consumption during residence at Beauty for Ashes. Smokers must begin an aggressive smoking cessation plan within the first week of entry at Beauty for Ashes.
10. Not involved in active domestic violence situation within the last 6 weeks. 
11. Be a homeless female, age 18 or older (unless emancipated)
12. Be able to provide one’s own self-care.  Mother must be able to care for her children.
13. Demonstrate social and emotional skills adequate for communal living environment.  A history of violent actions or self-harm behaviors are not appropriate for the housing program provided at Beauty for Ashes.
14. Not be considered a safety risk to self or others.
15. Be stable on medication and receptive to counseling if you have mental health problems.
16. Although we are not equipped to provide housing for persons with severe mental health diagnoses and mothers with custody of adolescent sons age 12 and older, we will be glad to help you locate an appropriate shelter.
